OPENING DAY APRIL12th. 2025

The weather stayed very fair for our opening day.  The green looked and played well  after a lot of remedial winter work by our fine green team, ably led by David Burge.

The Mayor Nocturin Lacey-Clarke and  his Consort opened proceedings by each casting a bowl each in fine fashion.  The forty odd intrepid bowlers were then split into teams of four and participated in an interesting game.  After four ends opponents and rinks were rotated and individual scores recorded.  It was a great way of mixing up players to socialise and have fun.  Veteran Sally Burton won the event and received the top prize.  There was a good crowd watching the game unfold.

After the outside activities a fantastic buffet was making the table groan but several volunteers soon made it a lot lighter.  Sue Wood and her great helpers must be applauded for a lovely spread.  There was plenty of food left at the end which did not go to waste. Thank you Sue.  Dave Pearson and team did a fantastic job behind the bar.  Plus, thanks again to The Green Team, without you we could not grace The Green and have fun.

Daphne West our President gave the closing speech again thanking everybody for their fine efforts.  Also presenting the prizes to the afternoon winners of Denis’s competition.  So thanks to Daphne and Dennis for making the day fun and a success.

As a footnote it was great to see Club Stalwart Norman Arnold present.  We wish you well Norman, great battler and still raising that cheeky smile.
